Gall Blazer
WARNING!
This game contains contains scenes which may not be suitable for the faint-hearted, although this game was developed for fun.
Now here is something completely different. Who would have thought a hi score attack surgical simulator would appear on the C64? Well, Gall Blazer is exactly that and it also won the 3rd place position in the C64 SEUCK Compo 2025-Part 2.
SCENARIO
Dr. Commodore is needed in the operating room!
The patient has a severe case of gallstones. We need to surgically remove his gallbladder as soon as possible, but we cannot operate until the patient's condition has stabilized.
So as an emergency measure, you must put an ultrasound cannon against the stomach of the patient, and pulverize the gallstones inside his gallbladder. If you fail, we may lose the patient...
HOW TO PLAY
This is a 1 player game. Press Fire on either joystick to start the game.
On the screen you will see a live ultrasound scan of the patient's inflamed, swollen gallbladder.
(His face is shown in an insert on the right.)
The scan will also show gallstones as they form and move about inside the patient.
Aim with the crosshairs, and press FIRE to shoot.
The Status Panel shows the following information:
- Patient ECG (Electrocardiogram): The jagged line that indicates the patient's overall health. The more gallstones you shoot, the more the ECG is affected.
- Gallstone Health: The white dots that indicate the state of the patient's gallbladder. If the number of dots reaches zero, the gallbladder ruptures and we lose the patient.
- Ultrasound Cannon Charge: The red digits that indicate how many "shots" you currently have. This will recharge every hour, but you still have a limited number of shots for each level - so be careful not to waste them!
- In the upper left corner is a clock that indicates the number of hours elapsed. Each time the clock changes hour, your ultrasound cannon recharges.
If you are too slow to destroy gallstones, they will begin to cause damage to the patient. (You can see his reaction in the insert.) The more stones that gather in the gallbladder, the worse the damage can get. If the patient dies, the game ends.
You earn a bonus life for every 10,000 points you score (indicated in the ECG activity).
HINTS AND TIPS
- The colour of a gallstone may indicate how dangerous it is.
(Hint: It's not just the big ones you should shoot first!)
- Some gallstones will pass without damaging the patient, but you can earn vital bonus points (and bonus lives) by shooting them anyway.
- You can pulverize an entire cluster of gallstones with one shot, if they are closely packed. Practice this to make the "ammo" last longer.
