Bubble Duck

The New Dimension is very proud to present to you a cute underwater horizontal scrolling shoot 'em up, which won the second place position in the C64 SEUCK Compo 2025-Part 2.

Bubble Duck is an enhanced SEUCK game that was first created using the right-left version of Sideways SEUCK. This game contains the following features:

• Cute loading bitmap
• New front end presentation with hi score detection
• 4 Challenging levels
• Custom made score panel
• Parallax char scrolling
• Instant level skipping on killing a boss enemy
• Cool music
• Compatible with theC64, Ultimate 64 and the C64 Ultimate as well as a stock PAL C64. (Not compatible with NTSC C64s).

SCENARIO

Once upon a time, there lived a yellow duck, Bubble Duck who loved sailing across the sea in his beloved boat. He used to sail across the sea without problems. His trusty boat, the S.S Quack has been through storms, gales and survived many of those. 

Those were the good days for our hapless hero, Bubble Duck. That was until today. He felt a few loud bangs at the bottom of the boat and then disaster struck. A grumpy fat shark has been attacking the boat underneath. The boat, unfortunately, sank into the deep blue sea leaving poor Bubble Duck stranded. 

Rather then do nothing and let himself perish, Bubble Duck jumps into a magic inflatable bubble and he sets off in search for an alternative transport. However, in order to get there, he must go on a very long and dangerous journey. 

PLAYING THE GAME

This game is for 1 player only.

You take control of Bubble Duck, who is inside his magic inflatable bubble. Your task is to safely guide Bubble Duck across four treacherous levels in search for a submarine so that he can take himself back home. You will have to endure deadly underwater creatures. You can eliminate them with your bubbles, but most of the creatures can fire back at you. Some enemies will require more than one hit. Some enemies will aim their poison at you. Also watch out for the background scenery. It can be deadly and one single bump into the background will cost you one life.

THE BOSS STAGES

At the end of each level, you will have to face a crazy shark boss fight. 15 hits will destroy the evil characters and allow you to move onto the next level. Level 4 features the grumpy fat shark who is responsible for destroying your boat. He's a blue one. Shoot it 15 times to complete the game.

BONUS OBJECTS

The game features bonus objects which you can pick up. They are as follows:

• "B" Objects - These will award you bonus points when collected
• Stranded ducks - If you rescue a stranded duck you will be awarded bonus points
• Bombs - If you pick one of those, all the enemies will disappear in a puff of smoke. The only disadvantage is that you will only score points for the bomb picked up.

The bonus objects can be crucial as they will move you closer to be awarded an extra life. Extra lives are awarded at every 10,000 points scored.

Can Bubble Duck find the submarine, or will his adventure end up at the deep end?

Use joystick in port 2
RUN/STOP (ESCAPE) - Pause Game, fire resumes
Q (While paused) - Abort Game back to the title screen
