Tape Master Pro: TIP #1 : Adding loading music

There has been some kind of confusion about including SID music inside Tape Master Pro. So here are some simple tips to help you along if you are new to this. You will need Sidplay 2/W by Inge and Dir Master by Style for this tip. To find both of those tools, please use a search engine and use the two tools as the keywords.

First of all, Tape Master Pro does NOT support SID format. You will need to use PRG format instead. If you are unsure how to make a PRG out of a SID you created or grabbed a demo tune from HVSC please follow these steps.

1. Load in Sidplay W/2 (Avoid V3 as it has no PRG save support at the moment).

2. Go to Settings / Extensions. Rename "DAT" for C64 Data as "PRG".

3. Go to File / Open and then select the SID tune in which you wish to choose for your tape master.

4. Go to File / Properties to check for the load range, load address, music init and music play address. If music load address starts at $1000 and is below end address at $2000, music and init and play matches the specified players then all is good.

Tape Master Pro V4.0 supports players that initialise and play at the following addresses:

Init $1000 Play $1003 (general music players)
Init $1000 Play $1006 (future composer or SidFactory)
Init $1048 play $1021 (Voice Tracker or Dutch USA Team's Music Assembler).

Versions 1 to 3 allows you to enter init and play addresses of loading music manually.

5. Go to File / Save As then in the extension box menu, select c64 data (*.prg) and enter the filename to save in PRG format.

6. Use Style's DIR Master and import the PRG version of the tune into your Tape Master disk which contains the Koala Paint loading bitmap and game.

Enjoy!
